2013 Thorud Family Reunion (It's the 50th!)

Hi to everyone!
This year is the 50th reunion for the Thorud family!  That's a pretty good record!
It will be held at the same place, in Cherry Grove, Oregon, as it has been in the past several years.
It sounds like we are going to have a great turnout!  There are just a few we have not heard from.  So check with all of your relations to make sure they are aware that this is the year to attend.

July 19, 20 and 21 are the dates you want to save!  If you can only make one day, try to make it Saturday, the 20th, as that is the main day.

There is plenty of room for camping.  Lots of room for outdoor games (a big field).  Swimming, or just playing in the Tualatin River.  (Although it is more like a creek here.)

We are hoping to have everyone bring old pictures of either the older relatives or pictures of any of the picnics (especially the earlier picnics!).  Even if it is just a picture or two, that will be great.  It is amazing how many people don't have pictures of their parents, grandparents, etc.  So come and share!

The same goes for family recipes.  I have been working on a Thorud Family Cookbook.  (I know...I've been hounding a lot of you for recipes for a few years now!)  I wanted to have it done by this years picnic, being the 50th and all, but I wanted recipes from all branches of the family and not just a few.  I have Grandma Aletha's box of recipes, but I would like recipes from all of the brothers and sisters families.  It would be wonderful if we could get recipes which have been handed down through the generations, but as long as they are favorites of your immediate family, they will be very welcome.  So hopefully I will get enough recipes to make it a well rounded cookbook which represents all of us.  Either way, I WILL put it together for next year and if your side of the family is not included....well, all I can say is that I tried.

We are planning on lots of Viking-type games!  (That sounds rather dangerous and also misleading.)  So unless the tug of war gets violent, maybe I should say Norski-type games!

So come visit, eat, sit around the campfire, eat, play games, eat and renew family connections!

Love to all,
Pat
